When You’ve Lost Yourself: A Journey Back to You.

There are moments in life when a woman looks in the mirror and no longer recognizes the person staring back. After trauma, addiction, incarceration, or years of surviving instead of living, it’s easy to lose your sense of self. But losing yourself doesn’t mean you’re gone—it means it’s time to come home.

At Awaken Your Lioness, we believe that healing isn’t just about recovery—it’s about rediscovery. You are not starting over from scratch. You’re reclaiming the parts of yourself that were buried beneath pain, shame, or survival.

What Losing Yourself Can Look Like:

Forgetting what brings you joy or makes you feel alive

Feeling disconnected from your voice, your body, or your purpose

Shrinking to fit others’ expectations

Living on autopilot—numb, anxious, or exhausted

If any of that resonates, you’re not alone. And more importantly—you can find your way back.

5 Steps to Begin Rediscovering Yourself

1. Slow Down and Get Still

You can’t reconnect with yourself if you’re always in motion. Pause. Breathe. Listen inward.

2. Reflect on Who You Were Before the Pain

What did you love? What made you feel proud, playful, or peaceful? Reconnecting to your younger self can offer clues.

3. Explore Without Pressure

Try new things, revisit old passions, or say yes to something that excites you—even if you’re scared. You’re allowed to experiment.

4. Release the Roles That Don’t Fit Anymore

Sometimes we lose ourselves trying to be everything to everyone. It’s okay to let go of expectations that keep you small.

5. Affirm Who You’re Becoming

Each day, remind yourself: “I’m finding my way back. I am not lost. I am becoming.”

You Are Worth Coming Home To

The journey back to yourself may feel uncertain at first, but every small step matters. You are not too far gone. You are not too late. You are worthy of knowing, loving, and becoming all over again.

This is not the end. It’s your return.
